GUWAHATI: Bollywood actor Aka Aamir Khan 'Lal Singh Chaddha' wanted to celebrate the 75th Independence Day in Assam.
However as per reports, Assam Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asked him to postpone his proposed visit to a later date after the celebrations of Har Ghar Tiranga in Assam.
"Aamir Khan wanted to come here and even spoke to me. But because this time the focus is on Independence Day and the whole Tiranga initiative and its significance, so we did not want it to get diluted. Therefore I requested him to postpone and to come after Independence Day," Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters in Guwahati.
Aamir and his team have accepted the invitation. He will now attend the Chief Minister's flag hoisting ceremony to add to the excitement of the Independence Day celebrations.
Not only this but the film 'Lal Singh Chaddha' will also be seen with the Chief Minister of Assam, Aamir Khan and his team on the next day of the ceremony i.e. 16th August.
Aamir Khan's film Lal Singh Chaddha has been released on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.
It is the official remake of the Oscar-winning Hollywood film Forrest Gump. Apart from Aamir, it also stars Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in important roles.
Even before the release of the film, there was a demand to boycott the film on social media. At the same time, the film has received decent reviews from critics and trade analysts.
Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan has also been released along with Aamir's film. The clash between the films of these two stars is the biggest clash of this year.
'Laal Singh Chaddha' recorded a 15-20 per cent occupancy, which is a worrying figure for an Aamir Khan film. The opening day figures, according to a report by Box Office India, are anything between Rs 10-11 crore. Akshay Kumar's 'Raksha Bandhan' was also released alongside 'Laal Singh Chaddha'. According to early trade reports, Raksha Bandhan also earned approx. Rs 10 crore on Day 1.
